The Matrix Line of Pool Table Payment Conversion Kits
FAQs
Common Questions.
What brands of pool tables can be upgraded with the Matrix?
The Matrix conversion kit is compatible with most coin-operated pool tables used in the U.S. market. This includes brands such as Valley-Dynamo, Diamond, Great American, Murrey, and our Global pool tables.
The system is designed to upgrade existing tables with modern electronic and cashless payment capabilities without requiring the purchase of a new table.
What types of payments does the Matrix accept?
The standard Matrix system accepts quarters and $1–$20 bills.
When equipped with the optional Matrix i5 cashless upgrade, the system also accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay, and other digital wallets, allowing customers to pay directly from their smartphone or smartwatch.
I only want to add cashless payments to my push coin chute table.
Is that possible?
Is that possible?
Yes. With the Matrix i7 retrofit kit, you can add modern cashless payment capability while keeping your existing push coin chute fully operational.
The upgrade allows players to pay using tap-to-pay and choose between per-game play or time play, without replacing the table’s original coin mechanism.
An optional push button indicator is also available that blinks during scheduled free-play periods, making it easy for players to see when the table is set to free play.
Is a smartphone app required to use Tap to Pay?
No. No smartphone app is required.
Players can simply tap their phone or smartwatch to the reader to pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay, or other supported digital wallets. The system also supports QR code payments, which automatically launch a secure payment webpage on the player’s device.
This allows customers to pay quickly and securely without downloading or installing any additional apps.
Is Tap to Pay on iPhone secure?
Yes. Tap to Pay on iPhone uses the iPhone’s built-in security features to help keep both business and customer data private and secure.
When a payment is processed, Apple does not store card numbers on the device or on Apple servers. Each transaction is encrypted and processed securely using Apple’s payment technology, helping protect sensitive payment information.
Is the Matrix i5 connected to the cloud?
Yes. The Matrix i5 is cloud-connected, giving operators access to powerful remote management and monitoring features.
Operators can view real-time transaction activity, making it easy to track usage and revenue from anywhere. The system also includes real-time battery monitoring, with automatic email alerts when the battery level runs low, helping prevent unexpected downtime.
I don’t want Time Play to show on the display. Can it be turned off?
Yes. The Matrix system is fully configurable, allowing you to choose which pricing options appear on the display.
By default, the Matrix supports Single Game Pricing, Bonus Pricing, and Time Play, but each of these can be enabled or disabled depending on how you want your table to operate.
- Time Play can be turned off so it does not appear on the display.
- Bonus Pricing can also be disabled if you prefer to keep pricing simple.
- If desired, both Single Game and Bonus Pricing can be turned off, allowing the table to operate with Time Play only.
This flexibility allows operators to configure the display and pricing structure to match the needs of their location and customers.
How is the Matrix powered?
Most Matrix systems are powered by a 12V battery installed inside the table, allowing the unit to operate without requiring an external power connection. This makes installation simple and ideal for locations where electrical power is not available under the table.
For locations where power can be brought under the table, the Matrix can also be hardwired to 110VAC using an optional power supply. This option eliminates the need for battery replacement and provides continuous power to the system.
Does the Matrix automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time?
Yes. Both the Matrix system and the optional Tap to Pay feature automatically adjust for Daylight Saving Time, ensuring scheduled pricing, timed play, and free-play periods remain accurate without requiring manual updates.
Is the standard Matrix connected to the cloud?
No. The standard Matrix system is not cloud-connected. All programming and pricing adjustments are made directly at the pool table using a four button keypad.
This simple approach allows operators to quickly change settings such as game price, bonus pricing, and time play without requiring an internet connection or online account.
I already have a Matrix unit on my pool table.
